Claude Code runs inside the Kino desktop app. Sign in once with the Claude subscription you already have, and the agent works on the project you have open: it searches your footage, edits the timeline, writes motion graphics, and exports video. Kino doesn’t meter these messages; they run on your Claude plan.

Set up

  1. In the desktop app, open chat with Cmd+L. Your first chat asks you to choose an agent — hit Continue with Claude Code. After that, the agent picker (Cmd+/) switches agents anytime.
  2. Sign in when prompted. Kino opens Anthropic’s sign-in page in your browser; paste the code back into the app and you’re connected.
Teams on AWS Bedrock can connect with a profile and region instead of a subscription. Claude Code is available in the desktop app on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Kino manages the Claude Code executable, so there is nothing to install separately. In the browser, chat with Kino works as before.

What it can do

The agent has the same project tools as Kino’s own agent: transcript and visual search, timeline edits, project code, bins, and export. It also brings its own abilities, like running shell commands and reading and writing files, and those go through your approvals.

Control how much it does

Choose the model and thinking effort per conversation. Three permission levels set how independently the agent works: approve each action, auto-approve edits, or skip approvals entirely. For bigger requests, press Shift+Tab to toggle Plan mode. The agent proposes a plan you review before it touches the timeline.

Long sessions, without the mess

A live strip shows what the agent is running. Fork a session to try a different direction, or rewind it to an earlier point and continue from there. The agent can also use your remote MCP servers, and you manage which ones from inside Kino.
