Devin is Cognition’s cloud software engineer. Every session gets its own Linux machine with a shell, a browser, and a desktop you can watch. Install the Kino desktop app on that machine and Devin gets the full editor: your library, the timeline, motion graphics, and export. Nothing to configure on your side. The Kino desktop app ships its own MCP server, and it runs on Devin’s machine, next to Devin.
A Devin session: Devin installs the Kino desktop app, connects to its MCP server, and builds a 10-second brand-clone project with screenshots

Set up

Start a new Devin session and send it this:
Devin installs the app, asks how you sign in, and reports back with your project list. With email sign-in, paste the one-time code into the chat when it arrives. With Google, open the Desktop tab and approve the sign-in yourself. Keep Kino open on Devin’s machine. The MCP server runs only while the desktop app is running, and Devin can relaunch it if it ever quits.
Open the Desktop tab in the Devin session to see Kino as Devin sees it. You can click around the editor there while Devin works, so a long edit becomes a pair session instead of a wait.

Ask for an edit

From here it’s a chat. Give Devin a project, or a reference, and tell it what you want back:
Devin replies with a link to the project, rendered screenshots it took through the MCP server, and a note on what it changed. Long jobs are fine. Devin messages you when it’s done, and its work is saved in the project like anyone else’s on the team.

What it can do

Devin has the same tools as any agent on the Kino MCP server: transcript and visual search, timeline edits, composition code, screenshots to check its own work, and export. The prompts that work in Claude Code and Codex work here too.

Troubleshooting

  • If Devin says Kino isn’t running, ask it to open the desktop app again. The server stops when the app quits.
  • If sign-in stalls, open the Desktop tab and finish the sign-in yourself, or tell Devin which method you use for Kino and have it start again.
  • If a site blocks Devin’s scraper (a security checkpoint, for example), Devin will approximate the brand from what it can reach. Drop the logo and colors into the chat and ask it to use those instead.
  • To see what Devin did, open the project link it sends. Its edits show up in version history like anyone else’s on the team.
