What formats does Kino support?

Professional codecs decoded in the browser: ProRes, DNxHD/DNxHR, Blackmagic RAW, MXF, and the standard web formats

Standard video

Containers: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, MPEG Transport Stream (.ts), and the MPEG program stream family (.mpg, .mpeg, .vob).

Container support does not guarantee codec support. If a file does not import cleanly, send the camera model, file extension, codec, and a short sample to [e-mail].

Audio

Containers: MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A, OGG.

HEIC/HEIF	iPhone photos converted to JPEG on upload

HEIC files are converted to JPEG in your browser before upload. iPhone “Live Photo” motion data is not preserved. Only the still image is kept. HDR tone mapping is also not carried over.

Camera RAW

Blackmagic RAW (.braw) and RED RAW (.r3d) are supported — see Pro Media Support. Other camera RAW formats, including ARRI RAW and Canon Cinema RAW Light, are not currently part of the standard upload path.
