Kino plays professional camera and post-production formats directly in the browser, on decoders we built ourselves. The files your camera or Avid workflow produces play as-is. There is no transcode step before you can work.

Codecs

Scrubbing stays fast even on 6K RAW, all in the browser.

Containers

A container is not a codec: MXF is a wrapper, and DNxHD is one of the things you find inside it. Kino handles both layers. These formats play natively. Exports render to delivery formats (H.264, HEVC, VP9, AV1, and ProRes) — Kino reads BRAW and R3D, it does not write them. Consumer containers (MP4, MKV, WebM, MPEG-TS, the MPEG program stream family) plus all audio and image formats are listed in What formats does Kino support?
