Desktop app (macOS)
The Kino desktop app is the recommended way to use Kino on a Mac: native window management, better performance, and a dedicated workspace outside your browser.Browser
In the browser, Kino works best in the latest Chrome. Use Chrome for file ingest, local playback, timeline import, and export. Safari, Firefox, Arc, Edge, and Brave may load, but production editing workflows depend on Chrome-only APIs — WebGPU for the timeline and WebCodecs for decoding — and are not supported there.Hardware
Kino renders the timeline with WebGPU and decodes video on your GPU. Any modern computer with a dedicated or integrated GPU and a WebGPU-capable browser works. For the best experience with 4K+ footage:- Dedicated GPU (NVIDIA, AMD, or Apple Silicon)
- 16GB+ RAM
- SSD storage for local files
